Air conditioning installation in Holland-on-Sea
Bungalow country — which happens to make this some of the most straightforward and best-value work we do.
Look at what comes up for sale in Holland-on-Sea and it is bungalow after bungalow. Post-war, single storey, detached or semi, most with a loft and a decent side return. That is not a throwaway observation — it genuinely changes what an installation costs and how long it takes.
Why a bungalow is the easy job
Three reasons. The pipe run between the indoor and outdoor units is short, because everything is on one level and the outdoor unit can usually sit at ground level on a stand a few metres from the room it serves. The loft void gives a clean, invisible route for pipework and condensate rather than trunking down an external wall. And there is no working at height, which means no tower, no scaffold and no second pair of hands for the awkward part.
A single-room bungalow installation is comfortably a day, and a two-room one usually is too. If you have been quoted as though it were a two-storey house, you have been quoted by somebody who has not looked properly.
Heating one room without heating the house
Holland has an older, largely retired population, and a bungalow is an awkward shape to heat selectively — one thermostat, one zone, and a boiler that warms four bedrooms so that somebody can sit comfortably in the lounge. A reversible unit in the room you actually use is a different proposition. It heats that room in minutes, for a fraction of the running cost, and the central heating can stay off until it is genuinely needed.
Most of our Holland customers end up using the heating far more than the cooling, which surprises people who called us in August.
Still the coast
Holland sits on the cliff top between Clacton and Frinton, close enough to open water that the outdoor unit wants a coated condenser coil. It is less punishing here than out on the Naze, but it is the same principle: the coating is specified when the unit is ordered, and it is the difference between a system that lasts and one that does not.
